A low profile sectional sofa and ottoman over a Cha-Cha wool and silk area rug defines the primary sitting area, while a Cha-Cha concrete table occupies part of the reading area by the window. The Wenge wood wall takes command of the living room with its vertical and horizontal light niches. It envelopes the fireplace and incorporates the flat-screen TV, as well as provides storage for all the AV equipment”.

French doors open to the views of the Potomac River. The stone fireplace surround with the hanging flat-screen monitor is the focal point of this family room. Extra cushy loungers allow for long movie viewing in comfort. Beyond the sundried tomato wall with the pocket doors lies the guest bedroom and home office”.

A magical place as the sun sets: halogen lighting on dimmers, LED cove lighting in blue and mostly white palette makes the beach apartment in Miami’s chic South Beach a great retreat for an out-of-town owner”.

The concrete trough with the white pebbles in the foreground is an ethanol fireplace that brings drama in the evening, The living room is open to the entry foyer, the club room and the kitchen, and is flooded with daylight from all directions. The earthy accent walls become gateways to each room and organize the plan. The modern furniture pieces appear to float above the wide-plank flooring, The open plan allows for views from room to room, that make the space feel unified and more generous”.

The paneling houses the AV equipment for the flat screen panel on the right hand side and creates display niches for the owner’s pottery collection on the left. Bamboo floors throughout and the classic Swan chair in orange compliment a concrete table on wheels on top of a custom celadon wool area rug.  The focal point from this perspective is the custom sycamore upper cabinets and custom concrete countertops, which match the fireplace and sycamore paneling on the opposite end of the room. The bamboo floors continue from the living room into the kitchen area, which is defined by a slightly dropped ceiling. Photograph by Geoffrey Hodgdon”.

The outdoor deck is at the same level as the indoor living areas, thus becoming an outdoor extension of the living room in the spring, summer and fall. Outdoor artwork and lighting at night reinforce the concept of indoor-outdoor living at its best”.

Pi on top “The brick wall and traditional fireplace mantel were removed and substituted with a concrete fireplace surround and hearth with a flat screen TV recessed in the drywall surround. Modern and functional furniture and a custom wool rug make the room a cozy family escape. The wood on the furniture matches the wenge colors of the kitchen cabinets that the family room opens to. Modern shades provide privacy throughout yet don’t compromise the amount of light filtering in”.

Custom cabinetry houses a home office and a wet bar on the lower level and a pantry and buffet/TV cabinet on the kitchen/dining level. Neutral tones and two-story Venetian plaster panels on the wall complete the dramatic setting. Artwork is by the designer”.
